Large programmes are mostly discipline: know the current state, agree the target, sequence the work, measure the benefit.

The transferable part

Enterprise transformation has a reputation for cost and complexity. Strip that away and what's left is a method: understand how work flows today, decide what good looks like, sequence changes so each one pays for the next, and measure whether the benefit arrived.

That method works just as well for a twelve-person business as a twelve-thousand-person one. The difference is scale, not principle.

Why it's now affordable

Modern tooling and AI-assisted development have collapsed the cost of building connected systems. Capability that once required a programme team and a year is now weeks of focused work. What hasn't changed is the judgement about what to build — which is where most of the value, and most of the risk, still sits.
